The Original is the plain-cut cross in SKRT's lineup: a single row of large round settings down the stem and across the arms, mounted in Rose Gold. It reads as one clean line of light, not a pattern. Here is how it differs from the other SKRT crosses, which chain to hang it from, and where it looks right.

Up close

Each arm is one row of big round settings, and each setting sits in its own claws, so every one throws its own flash when you move. The bail, the loop the chain passes through, is iced with small round settings too. The settings are white, framed by heavy 18K gold plating in Rose Gold over a 316L stainless steel core that is hypoallergenic for most skin. Rose Gold is the gentle one of SKRT's three finishes, warm with a hint of pink, and here it frames the white settings instead of competing with them.

Original, Emerald or Baguette?

SKRT makes several crosses, and the cut is what separates them.

  • Original: large round settings in a single row, so the cross itself is the whole design. Verified to fit chains up to 6mm.
  • Emerald: rectangular step cuts laid in rows, for a more architectural cross. "Emerald" names the cut, not a color. See the Iced Emerald Cross Pendant in Rose Gold. Verified to fit chains up to 5mm.
  • Baguette: baguette-cut blocks that give the cross a squared-off, block-built look. See the Iced Baguette Cross Pendant in Rose Gold. Also up to 5mm.
  • Mini: the compact cross, made for chains up to 3mm only.

Pick the Original if you want a classic cross built from round settings and the widest chain fit of the group.

The chain it hangs from

This pendant fits any 3mm SKRT chain, necklace or choker, and SKRT tennis chains up to 4mm. Its verified maximum is 6mm, but SKRT's rope chain is 3mm and its Cuban chains start at 8mm, so rope and tennis are the practical choices. The photo above shows a rope chain, and the one SKRT pairs with this cross is the Rope Chain in Rose Gold - 3mm. Pendants are sold without a chain.

Where it should sit

A cross is tall and narrow, so length decides how much of it shows. At 22 inches the chain sits below the collarbone and the whole cross hangs clear of the neckline. At 24 inches it drops to mid-chest with a relaxed drape, close to how it hangs in the photo. Go shorter than 22 and the cross rides up against the collar. Lay string at the length you like and read it against the SKRT Size Guide. When two lengths are close, the longer one gives the cross more room.

Wearing a cross

The cross is first a symbol of Christian faith, and plenty of people wear it for that reason. It is also a plain graphic shape that fits many styles of jewelry. In Rose Gold it suits a black or white tee best, and it sits well beside a Rose Gold watch or ring if you want the metals to match.

Keeping the settings clean

A row of settings catches lotion and skin oils first, so wipe the pendant with a soft microfiber cloth after you wear it. Once a month, soak it 2 to 3 minutes in lukewarm water with a drop of mild dish soap, brush gently with a soft toothbrush, rinse and pat it dry right away. For the whole routine, see the Care Instructions page. SKRT's Lifetime Guarantee backs the pendant.

Quick answers

Is the Original Cross a men's or women's pendant?

Both. This listing is the men's Iced version, and the same piece is listed for women as the Diamond Original Cross Pendant in Rose Gold. The choice comes down to which listing you prefer.

What chains are too wide for the Original Cross?

Anything wider than 6mm, which includes every SKRT Cuban chain, since those start at 8mm. Use a 3mm chain or a tennis chain up to 4mm.

Can I layer a second chain with the cross?

Yes. Keep the cross on its own 3mm chain and wear the second chain about 2 inches longer or shorter, so the two do not tangle. Never thread the cross onto a chain wider than its fit allows.

One row, one cross, no extras. See the Iced Original Cross Pendant in Rose Gold.
