SKRT jewelry is built to last, 316L surgical-grade stainless steel base with heavy 18K gold plating, designed to be hypoallergenic, sweat-proof, and resistant to everyday wear. With a little care, your pieces will look brand new for years.

This page explains what your jewelry can handle, what to avoid, and how to clean and store your SKRT pieces properly.

What SKRT jewelry is designed to handle

What to avoid (to keep the warranty in good standing)

❌ Swimming pools and hot tubs, chlorine attacks gold plating ❌ Saltwater, accelerates oxidation ❌ Long hot showers, repeated high heat + soap residue dulls the finish ❌ Lotions, perfumes, oils, and cosmetics, apply BEFORE putting jewelry on, and let products fully absorb/dry ❌ Bleach, harsh cleaners, alcohol-based products, chemical exposure damages plating and stones ❌ Ultrasonic cleaners and steam cleaners, not safe for pavé settings or plated pieces ❌ Sleeping in your jewelry, chains can tangle and clasps can bend ❌ Storing pieces loose together, they scratch and tangle

A good rule of thumb: last on, first off. Put your jewelry on after you've finished getting ready, and take it off before you wind down for the night.

Cleaning your SKRT pieces

Routine care (weekly)

• Wipe gently with the soft polishing cloth included with your order, using light pressure in a single direction.
• For chains and bracelets, run the cloth along each link to remove sweat and oils.

Light cleaning (monthly, or after sweaty days)

1. Fill a bowl with lukewarm water and a single drop of mild dish soap (Dawn or similar, no degreasers).
2. Soak the piece for 2-3 minutes, no longer.
3. Use a soft toothbrush (baby toothbrushes work great) to lightly brush around stones and links.
4. Rinse under lukewarm running water.
5. Pat dry immediately with a soft microfiber or polishing cloth, do not air-dry. Trapped moisture is the enemy of plating.

What NOT to use

• ❌ Toothpaste, baking soda, or any abrasive paste, they scratch the plating
• ❌ Jewelry cleaners with ammonia, alcohol, or acid
• ❌ Silver polish or silver dip, chemistry wrong for plated steel
• ❌ Ultrasonic or steam cleaners

Storage

• Store each piece individually in its original SKRT gift box or a soft pouch (microfiber or velvet).
• Keep pieces separated so they don't scratch or tangle against one another.
• Store in a cool, dry place, bedrooms are usually fine, bathrooms are not (humidity from showers degrades plating over time).
• Avoid leaving pieces on glass, metal, or stone surfaces overnight, temperature swings and condensation can dull the finish.

A note on natural wear

Even with the best care, all plated jewelry will show some sign of life after years of daily wear, that's normal and a sign your piece is being lived in. SKRT's heavy plating and 316L base are engineered to outlast typical fashion jewelry several times over.

Sizing & fit

• Bracelets should sit snug on the wrist with enough room to fit one finger underneath comfortably.
• Necklaces and chokers should not pull tight against the throat, choker fit should rest just above the collarbone with breathing room.
• Anklets should sit just above the ankle bone with light slack.
• If your piece feels too tight or too loose, contact customersupport@iskrt.com before wearing, sizing assistance and exchanges are easier when the piece is still in original condition.
